St Monans

[edit]

While the St Monance spelling is used in some official documentation, it is rarely if ever used by people who live in the vicinity. All local organisation use the St Monans spelling, most people looking for information would do so too. The village is named after St Monan, and the -ce spelling is an old possessive form (an alternative to 's) which has persisted in some databases, but is rarely used in modern references.
