The section below the diagram (the definitions) should be cropped.
- The layout wastes space and causes the whole graphic to be reduced in scale in articles.
- The terms are difficult to read and already defined in the diagram.
- If necessary the terms could occur in a caption and probably do in the articles.
- Cropping the bottom would permit the diagram to be rendered at a larger scale, more easily read.
If those definitions are kept in the graphic, a better scheme would be:
| Positive: presence of a stimulus | Reinforcement: increases behavior | Escape: removes a stimulus |
| Negative: absence of a stimulus | Punishment: decreases behavior | Avoidance: prevents a stimulus |
