PD-US license

[edit]

The original pre-1923 publication date is now being verified with the Mariners' Museum, as this issue was raised during the GA review for Baltimore Steam Packet Company; excerpt below:

I have concerns about Image:Old Bay Line terminal in 1911.jpg and its licensing. I see that it was taken in 1911, but published in 1961. If 1961 was the first publish date, then {{PD-US}} might not be the appropriate license.

Doing... Checking with the Mariners' Museum on first publication date, to verify it was pre-1923. If not PD, I will have it pulled off Commons (where someone else transferred it) and provide an appropriate Fair Use Rationale if need be.

Overall:

Pass/Fail:

Very nice article overall. The objections to the prose should all be able to be remedied within seven days. — Bellhalla (talk) 16:31, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the comprehensive GA review. I've addressed all of the prose items and have checked them off above. Still working on the image question (above). JGHowes talk - 02:44, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

If it cannot be verified as a free image, it will have to be deleted from Commons and use in Baltimore Steam Packet Company would have to be on a Fair Use basis after satisfying NFCC. JGHowes talk - 17:30, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Green tickYConfirmed today with the Director of Photographic Services & Licensing at Mariners' Museum, the repository of the original 1911 photo, that the image was first published in 1911 and therefore may be licensed as {{PD-US}}. JGHowes talk - 23:12, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
