Hello, I hope I'm putting this in the right place (starting a talk page on the .jpg file page seems to make more sense than on the "continental knitting" subject page where I found it).

Text description do not match corresponding images

[edit]

I think the images are accurate but the text needs to be adjusted...

The text in this file does not match what is shown in the images. Specifically, in order to match what is visually depicted, the text should read (changes in bold):

[text below first three images]

Insert the needle through the front of the stitch. (from a right to left perspective)

[text below fourth image]

Wrap the yarn around the needle once. (In a counterclockwise direction)

I'm an English rather than continental knitter, so I can't say with 100% certainty that the images are correct and the text is incorrect, however my understanding is that the direction of the needle movements and yarn orientation is the same as English knitting, with the only difference being the hand that holds the working yarn and the corresponding change in hand/wrist motions. If my assumption is correct, then the images are right but the text is not.

The images themselves for both "how to purl" and "how to knit" are nice and clear and thus I found them very useful, so thanks for putting them together Loggie.
