"Heading into the Atlantic" -- if Iroquois is heading into the Atlantic, why is Gibraltar to port? Unless I'm missing something (steaming south, perhaps?), it looks like she's heading into the Mediterranean.... Susan Davis (talk) 23:45, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just stumbled on this picture, saw the same problem and fixed the steaming direction issue. But there are two other strange things here:

The year is given as 1980. But the picture seems to show the destroyer in her post-TRUMP configuration (look at her 3-inch Oto Melara gun, for example), and hence can be no older than the 1990ies.
The source is given as navy.mil, but searching on "Iroquois Gibraltar" there gives nothing at all. Search for "Iroquois Canadian" gives some hits, none of which shows this picture. Can anybody else find it?

Just seconding Glaucidium's observation about the supposed date of this image. Iroquois clearly does NOT appear in her 1980 configuration, which would show a 5 inch gun forward, and the Sea Sparrow launcher where the 76mm gun is now. I visited the ship (1986) when she was still in her original basic layout, but this image is from a later era. I searched defenseimagery.mil for all pictures of Iroquois, none of their stock claimed to be from Gibraltar circa 1980.
