Because this is a probability density function. Such a function has an integral of 1, but that doesn't mean that it must not exceed 1. In particular, the PDF of a single event with 100% probability is the delta function, i.e. is infinity at one point. - Njol #T·C 18:03, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
