English: Ex-NER J72 0-6-0T on pilot duties at York
No. 68687 is an ex-NER Wilson Worsdell class E1 (LNER J72), built as No. 1747 in 4/1899, became LNER No. 8687 in 1946 and withdrawn 9/61. In previous years York's Station Pilots had been turned out painted and polished - but not by 1960. Note the sheet in the cab, to protect against the cold wind.
