"The jury, which had a hard task to decide, gave to Hilda Belcher the Alexander M. Hudnut prize of $200 for her Winifred Hunt, one of her notable successes with pictures of children. Winifred, a charming little blond girl, is in front of an easel of which the lower edge is seen. On the easel are partly revealed figures and the introduction of it makes strongly for decorative effect, while the dark background, under the easel, helps the dramatic effect as the child's face stands out against it."
