Deutsch: Die röm.-kath. Pfarrkirche Mariä Geburt am Rennweg im 3. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Landstraße.
Sie wurde 1768 nach Plänen des Architekten Thaddäus Karner als Waisenhauskirche errichtet und am 7. Dezember 1768 durch Fürsterzbischof Christoph Anton Graf Migazzi geweiht, wobei die Inneneinrichtung erst um 1775 fertiggestellt wurde. Im Jahr 1783 wurde die Kirche zur Pfarrkirche erhoben und nach Verlegung des Waisenhauses auf den Alsergrund verlor die Kirche 1785 ihre Funktion als Waisenhauskirche. Sie erhielt jedoch den Status einer Garnisonskirche, nachdem man das ehemalige Waisenhaus 1797 zu einer Artilleriekaserne adaptierte. |
