Description
English: Instrument (right) that in the Iberian Peninsula would be called Viola or vihuela; instrument (left) is a panpipe; from the Zwiefalten Passionale. The word viola has been reused across the years in different languages for different instruments. In the medieval Iberian Peninsula, it was a small figure-8 shaped lute, related distantly to later instruments such as the ukulele and hatchet and Portuguese violas.
