Summary

Description
English: (It was 14 feet long) Flag to Captain Edgar Wakeman.— Capt. Edgar Wakeman was presented with a very splendid signal flag, on board of the Independence, yesterday. The usual formula of presentation was observed, aud the affair went off with great eclat. The flag is a very elegant one, with the inscription of the words "Vigilance aud "Eureka," one above and the other below a large lone star. The device is, of course, significant of the recipient's recent action in concert with the citizens, aud is exceedingly appropriate.
