Description
  • English: Marble Roman anemoscope ("table of the winds"), dating from 2nd or 3rd Century CE, with inscriptions of the winds in both Greek and Latin. Found in 1779 at the foot of the Esquiline Hill in Rome, in the garden of a Maronite monastery. Held by the Museo Pio-Clementino, part of the Vatican Museums, in Rome. Image reproduced from J.G.
