Summary

Description
English: The w:Union Literary Institute was a school primarily for black students, though with some white students. It operated from 1846 to 1880. The photo shows both black and white girls, so it must be no later than 1880. After that, it was a racially segregated public school. Note the well and the broken windows. The windows are not in the building as it exists in 2019; it was used as a barn.
