Summary
[edit]Third Generation Mesh eliminates the first and second generation intermittent send-receive-send cycle by using two radios for the backhaul in place of one. Note that the two radios are operating on separate non-interfering channels. Now the bottleneck of the single radio send-receive-wait cycle is eliminated. Simultaneous send and receive is now possible. This dramatically improves latency over multiple mesh hops.
