English: This is the earliest known (1518) version of the Theban alphabet, used since then by occultists and Wiccans. The original text from https://www.loc.gov/item/32017914/ had legibility problems: (1) bleedthrough from the other side of the page; (2) missing pieces of characters from either the age of the book or incomplete inking of the plates; (3) off-register printing of the red-ink plate, resulting in red letters going too high on the page. Editor .Raven used GIMP to clean up these problems for easier reading of the original text and characters.

Note 1: the current ‘’’File:Theban.jpg’’’ is from a 1561 French translation of the work, rendering the last letter “w” as an ampersand (&), probably because “w” was a new letter and not familiar to those creating the French edition.
