Summary
DescriptionThe Roper River Mission.jpg |
English: The Roper River Mission was established by the Church of England. Church Missionary Society in 1908 as a refuge for the Aboriginal against the cruelty inflicted upon them by white settlers. Note the defference in clothing colour between smaller and older children. The simple building at the back is typical of earlier buildings built of galvanised iron (to prevent deprivation by white ants) and shutters for ventilation - no fly wire.
