English: The Nymphaeum, Chedworth Roman Villa The Nymphaeum was a water shrine. As was usual, this little pool is fed by a natural spring. The entire villa complex depended on a fresh supply of water, so it's not surprising that they wanted to keep the Water Spirits (or Nymphs) happy !
