Description
English: The Maiden An exhibit in the Royal Scottish Museum, Chambers Street. This 16th-century instrument of execution is one of the earliest machines of its kind. It was modelled on the Halifax Gibbet and introduced to Scotland in the 1570s by the Regent Morton.
