  • Opened in 1820 as the Lawn Asylum for the mentally ill, this impressive south front by architect Richard Ingleman with huge Ionic portico stands near the castle in uphill Lincoln.
  • Two famous psychiatrists worked here .... Dr.Edward Parker Charlesworth and Dr.Francis Willis. Charlesworth's statue and story is elsewhere for this square https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/105002, Francis Willis was the doctor who treated King George III for his 'madness'.
