Description Picture of Kenneth Noland's painting The Clown (1959) at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC in 2022. An abstract painting in the Color Field style, composed of several geometric shapes of bright colors painted on top of one another in the center of the canvas. There are no visible brushstrokes, and the paint is stained into the canvas, which is unstained apart from the shapes.
