Title
Théâtre des Nouveautés
Description
The Théâtre des Nouveautés was inaugurated in 1827 and located on rue Vivienne, across from the Bourse. The total construction costs for this small theater reached 3,467,000 francs and it was built at an elevation in an attempt to preserve the public passage at the site. Due to a lack of business, the theater was forced to close in 1832 and to relocate on multiple occasions. The original building on rue Vivienne was occupied by various theatrical groups throughout the remainder of the 19th century. The current Théâtre des Nouveautés is located on the boulevard Poissonnière, in the ninth arrondissement.
