Summary

Description

This image shows the extent of territory that was controlled by the LTTE and the Sri Lankan Government as of April 2007, after the LTTE had lost control of significant portions of eastern Sri Lanka, but before it lost control totally in July 2007. The current position - where the LTTE only controls portions of northern Sri Lanka - is represented in Image:Territorial control in Sri Lanka 2007.png. This image is an updated version of Image:Extent of territorial control in sri lanka.png, edited to reflect the LTTE's significant territorial losses in eastern Sri Lanka in 2006 and early 2007. The source for the information contained in the original image was an European Union document, (reference no. ECHO/-SA/BUD/2005/02000, available online at https://ec.europa.eu/echo/files/funding/decisions/2005/dec_sa_02000.pdf).
