Summary

Description
English: This hand-drawn drawing collected by Kanagawa University records the location of each object, clearly records almost all the information, and is more accurate and comprehensive than the photos. The Taiwan Shrine is located on Jiantan Mountain and was jointly designed by Ito Chuta (1867–1954) and Takeda Wuyi (1872–1938). It was built in 1900 (Meiji 33) and completed in October of the following year. It is the only "official coin shrine" in Taiwan. There are also facilities such as cannons used during the Russo-Japanese War, a monument to the souls of police officers, and a memorial garden for Emperor Taisho's ascension ceremony. The shrine was destroyed in 1944 (Showa 19), and was burnt down due to the crash of a Japanese airliner. After the restoration, in response to the needs of the National Government, the shrine was demolished and the hotel was rebuilt on the original site to become the Grand Hotel today.
