JUNE 20TH 1877. The Fire broke out on York Point at half past two P.M. and burned furiously until after midnight, consuming several hundred buildings among which were the Post Office, Custom House, Academy of Music, eleven churches, a number of Hotels, Banks and various public buildings, the entire business portion of the city, and vessels at the wharves. 13 lives were lost. The total loss is estimated at $25,000,000.
