Image title
CA70 - State Theater 515 E Street Marysville California. According to cinematreasures.org, originally opened as the National Theater, a single grand ornate auditorium cinema. Was converted to a multiplex in the 1970s. The ugly marquee, paint job, and 1970s-era stone tile work added to the street level walls deface the building exterior quite a bit. The nine niches on the top level of the front of the building exterior appear to have once held statues, or at least seem like they were intended to. The building has sat boarded up and unused since 1999. Marysville people - you ought to gut the interior multiplex partitions and restore this wonderful old building to its former glory, except of course with one addition - a performance stage, to give the restored building maximum functionality (I would prefer it be a movie house only, so the finest, biggest screen may be installed. But that's just me. Come on Marysville, pass the hat! http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/8924
