DescriptionSt Catherine's lifeboat station - geograph.ci - 224.jpg
St Catherine's lifeboat station. Built in 1990, it houses an "Atlantic 75", Eric Rowse.
"The St. Catherine's Lifeboat Station is manned by 12 sea-going crew, 1 launcher/mechanic, 1 launcher and 1 shore helper, all of whom live close to the station and are dedicated volunteers.
The first woman crewmember joined the crew on active service in June 1995.
On standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the crew are called by a pager system and are prepared to respond immediately to ensure that the Lifeboat is launched as quickly as possible, which, is normally within 10 minutes. "
