English: A bronze statue of a World War I soldier as they would have appeared on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, commissioned by Southend-on-Sea council and made by a local sculptor the statue was added to the memorial in 2019 mark the centenary of the end of the conflict. This view is from the north, showing the front of the statue. |
