The railway station, now one of thelargest in India, lies on the N. side ofthe city ; the Queens Gardens separ-ate it from the Chandni Chauk,which forms a street running E.and W. from the Fort and Palaceon the Jumna, to the FatehpuriMosque, near the Lahore Gate.Facing the S.W. angle of the Fort isthe great Jama Masjid, and furtherdown the river from the Fort is thesmall cantonment of Daryaganj. Inthe N. wall of the city are theKashmir and Mori Gates; at theN.W. earner the Kabul Gate ; belowit the Lahore Gate ; and at the S.W.corner the Ajmer. Outside the N.wall lies the civil station, bounded onthe E. by the river, and on the W. bythe Ridge, beyond which the canton-ment lay in 1857.
