Summary

Description
English: The R.P. Resor was an oil tanker built by the Federal Shipbuilding and Drydock Company in 1935. Its construction gained attention through an aggressive marketing campaign and use of new techniques in naval design, construction, and equipment. The Resor was torpedoed off the coast of New Jersey, killing 48 of the 50 crewmembers and turning the ship into a popular wreck. This particular image was the primary one used to promote the construction of the Resor, which was published in engineering editorials advertising the new equipment onboard the vessel.
