Summary
[edit]Photo of a completed Miracle Castings resin kit of a Balwin 6-axle diesel locomotive in HO scale. Photo by Pat Lawless. Model master and resin castings produced by Pat Lawless (Wikipedia ID: resinguy) This model was cast in Alumilite Regular polyurethane resin. The mold material was Dow Corning HSII RTV Silicone Rubber, with talcum powder used as a mold release. The locomotive shell was cast in two pieces; the main body, and the pilot ("cow catcher"). The frame was also cast in the same resin, and the model was powered using trucks, motor, and connecting parts from an Athearn PA model locomotive. The Miracle Castings company is no longer in existence, and the model is no longer in regular production, although there are plans to reintroduce it in late 2009/early 2010.
