Description
English: Royal Bookplate for Queen Victoria by G W Eve.

V R I Royal Library Windsor Castle (Queen Victoria).

Crest plate: the Royal crest flanked by V on one side and R I on the other, the inscription on a scroll below, all within a rectangular border. This print, unusually, lacks the etcher's monogram. Used for Octavo volumes.

Described in Brian North Lee's "Royal British Bookplates". See page 171 - plate 158.

Provenance: From the collection of Sir Charles Travis Clay (1885-1978), Librarian of the House of Lords from 1922-1956.
