Description A portrait (pencil drawing) of Páll Melsteð (1791 - 1861). According to Árbók Fornleifafélagsins 1977 the original measures are 29 x 24 cm.
Date Made in 1858 in Iceland. This version published in 1950.

Such a photograph could qualify under Icelandic law for a 50 year neighboring rights protection which has now expired. Note that prior to 2006 the period was 25 years. The 1950 book was published without a copyright notice. Since the work was in the public domain in Iceland in 1996 the implementation of the URAA would not have restored copyright in it in the United States.
