DescriptionPullman Parlour First No.308 "Cygnus" (7118670307).jpg
63'10" Pullman Parlour First No.308 "Cygnus" of VSOE at Bristol Temple Meads, 04/12. Built by Birmingham RC&W in 1951 with Gresley bogies - so it still has a fine ride! Note that, although built as "recently" as 1951, the design of the coach, though new, was essentially the same as the British Pullmans of the late 1920's (and the batch of Pullmans which "Cygnus" was a part of were ordered pre-war) - not a bad thing when the great comfort and luxary of these coaches is borne in mind. "Cygnus" was one of 10 built for the S.R. "Golden Arrow" Anglo-French service, though also worked on the S.R. "Bournemouth Belle".
