Description
  • Prometheus was one of the Titans, a divine figure in Greek mythology associated with the origin of fire. In the legend retold by Hesiod, Zeus is tricked by Prometheus into giving fire to Mankind. As a punishment Zeus has him bound to a pillar, his liver eaten daily by an eagle, and renewed every night until he is finally freed by Heracles.
  • The original artwork contains lettering in pencil above the print: "Prometheus and the vulture."
