English: Poster for The Golden City, The Scotsman Fringe First award winning 1974 Strathcyde Theatre Group production directed by Hugo Gifford. Perfomed in Glasgow Cathedral and St Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh. This landmark 1974 production was an early example of what's now known as Immersive Theatre. It used a large cast of actors and musicians and a variety of theatrical techniques to tell the story of the sixteenth century uprising by radical Anabaptist Christians in Germany who believed they were establishing a paradise on earth in the city of Munster. Their paradise ended brutally in a siege, torture and execution.
