Dansk: Købke malede Wilhelm Marstrand kort før denne rejste til Italien. Marstrands mor var meget bekymret og Købke livede billedet op ved at give Marstrand en lille rose i munden.
English: Christen Købke made this painting of Wilhelm Marstrand shortly before his friend left for Italy. Marstrand's mother was very concerned about the trip, so Købke made a little comical relief by painting Marstrand with a rose in the corner of his mouth.
