Description

Iron tray decorated with Pontypool japan, at Cardiff Museum.

The tray is japanned red, with a design in gold. Work by the Allgood family, dated 1732-1763. This design shows The Old Hall, Kelmarsh, Northamptonshire after an engraving by J. Mynde. Kelmarsh was the home of the Hanbury family, local ironmasters.
