This specimen of Placynthiella oligotropha was growing on humus and debris along a woodland road in an old Picea rubens Sarg. forest on Roque Island in Washington County, Maine, USA (Lat. 44o35' N, Long. 67o32' W).
Collected and identified by E.C. Uebel (No. U-557, 12 Jul 2005).
