| Description |
English: Plaque at 53 Karolkowa Street in Warsaw (as seen from Solidarności Avenue) commemorating almost 1400 Polish civilians (mostly patients of St. Lazarus Hospital) murdered in this place by German troops on 5th August 1944 - during so-called Wola Massacre (5th August 1944 – fifth day of Warsaw Uprising). Among the victims were also eleven Polish Girl Scouts (commemorate by the plate in the foreground).
Polski: Tablica na ścianie budynku przy ul. Karolkowej 53 w Warszawie (od strony al. Solidarności), upamiętniająca blisko 1400 Polaków zamordowanych przez Niemców podczas tzw. Rzezi Woli w pierwszych dniach Powstania Warszawskiego (5 sierpnia 1944). Większość ofiar stanowili pacjenci znajdującego się tu przed wojną Szpitala św. Łazarza. W gronie ofiar znaleźli się również zwykli mieszkańcy Woli, wzięci do niewoli powstańcy oraz 11 harcerek z drużyny im. Emilii Plater (upamiętnia je płyta wmurowana w nawierzchnię chodnika). |
