English: Flowerheads of Succisa pratensis, infected (right) and uninfected (left) with the floricolous downy mildew Peronospora violacea. This pathogen causes the flowers to be larger, redder, and without functional anthers. It produces conidiophores on the petals and is spread by pollinators. |
