Summary

Description
English: Scheduled Ancient Monument, although the coalmine opened in 1957, post-nationalisation, and was worked out after 10 years. The large concrete 'hopper' expelled air from the mine, which then sucked in fresh air through the tunnel entrances, which also provided level access into the coal seam.
