Summary

Description
English: Example of a Pelican crossing in London. Button has been pushed and "WAIT" is now lit up on the call button units. The "red man" continues to show on the far side. When safe to cross, the "green man" will show instead. (Identical controls and signals for users crossing from the other direction can also be seen at the top of the picture and on the opposite pole).

This is a "staggered crossing", and there is another pelican crossing- barely visible at the left- for the other half of the road. (Prominence of that has been reduced to avoid distraction and confusion with the main example.
