DescriptionPast 740 kyrs Dome-Concordia ice core temperature reconstructions.png
English: Graphic 740,000 year profile of temperature & CO2 variation (available data plotted) as derived from Dome-Concordia ice core, Antarctica.
Note the climatic "heart-beat" pulsing at a cycle of ~100,000 year intervals and the prevailing normality of much cooler climatic conditions than present.
Note also ice-core CO2 value curve overlaid on the same time-scale as the temperature (proxy), which shows clearly that temperature variation precedes CO2 change by >700 years on a sustained basis.
Note the position of the previous warm period ~120,000 years BP immediately pre-dates the oldest ice in greenland (110,000 years), which strongly suggests that all ice in Greenland melted in that warm event, and reformed as an ice sheet after the termination of the warm-age ~110,000 years BP.
