English: From Private Collection (PC.2096), which documents aspects of the life and career of the late state senator Vernon Malone, who had a passion for education and charted a path of progress. His efforts, that included interracial cooperation, dates even before his early days as a Wake County school board chairman in the 1970s and county commissioner from 1980 until election in 2002 as senator from the state's fourteenth district. Papers include Malone's handwritten and typed speeches that he made in Wake County and beyond to organizations, churches, and school groups, from 1976 to just before his death in 2009.
