Summary

Description
English: Riverbed of the Oued Fes or Oued al-Jawahir, as it emerges outside the eastern wall of the Old Mechouar in Fes Jdid. As can be seen, the river here (dry at the time of photo) is split by two canals with sluices on the left, as it flows towards the Jnan Sbil Gardens and Fes el-Bali. The four arches on the right are indicative of the fact that the Old Mechouar, which looks merely like a walled public square today, was actually a fortified bridge over the river.
