Svenska: Oscar II (1829-1907) är den siste svenske monark som krönts. Sverige genomgick stora förändringar under Oscar II:s 35-åriga regering, men själv höll han envist fast vid alla de ceremonier som bidrog till att understryka kungens värdighet. Under den oskarianska eran, som hade stora likheter med den viktorianska i Storbritannien, behandlades kungen och hans familj med överdriven vördnad. Högborgerligheten frodades, liksom en moralistisk livssyn som gav föga utrymme för tolerans. Oscar II gick själv i spetsen i kampen mot nya litterära strömningar.
