Summary

Description
English: Poles were designed by Joseph Oppenheimer with galvanised steel piping, made with a smaller section telescoped into a larger, lower pole for easy transport. Used extensively on the Overland telegraph and the South Australian section of the East-West line as they were resistant to fire and vermin attack.
