Summary

Description The Noonstone on Brimham Moor, North Yorkshiree, England. It is also known locally as the Noon Rock. The rock stands on a high point a little way south of a small farm house or cottage. In the days when there were fewer trees around the rock, this landmark used to cast a shadow on the cottage at midday. There used to be a tradition of lighting a fire next to the rock on midsummer eve, since such a fire could be seen for some distance. This is a natural rock outcrop or stack.
