Description

Diagram showing external and sectional view of British No. 69 anti-personnel hand grenade.
Construction is of bakelite. Filling is 3¼ ounces Lyddite, Amatol 80/20 or Baratol 20/80. Total weight is 13 ounces. Explosive effect is confined to a small area.
Operation :

  • Detonator is inserted into base hole and base plug is replaced.
  • Adhesive tape is removed and safety cap is unscrewed and removed.
  • A length of tape with a weight on the end wrapped around the safety pin restrains the striker. When thrown, the weight causes the tape to unwind and pull out the safety pin.
