Description

Diagrams of British No 80/44 time fuze with Adaptor No. 11 and Gaine No. 2 (left); and with No. 44/80 Mk IV as gaine (right).
These were used as special anti-aircraft fuzes. The 44/80 fuze acted as a gaine to convert the relatively weak flash of the 80 fuze, originally intended for shrapnel shells, into a strong flash necessary to ignite high-explosive anti-aircraft shells.

Total weight of assembled fuze : 2 lb 13½ oz (1.29 kg).
